Concours de Création - The Lumiera Logo Contest
Thanks to all our submissions
Tribute collage by pineconecs
Deadline
Deadline for submissions: Nov 30 2008
Voting
The voting will be held at CIVS from Dec 20 to Dec 31 at midnight + 1 second (precisely).
For instructions on how to vote the selected logos go to the Selection Page
Requirements
Some minimal technical requirements will be enforced:
- the basic sign fits a compact rather quadratic bounding box (like 4:3)
- easy to print on various media (on posters, t-shirts, ..)
- simple and essential (basically a shape), using only a small number of solid colours (easy to print)
- should work on different backgrounds, esp. not requiring white background
- the design should scale from favicon to poster size (several versions adjusted to specific sizes are fine)
Besides, we give some artistic guidelines
- it should be recognizable
- it should contain something like a sign, not just "Lumiera" in a fancy font
- it should not rely on transparencies, gradients and subtle shades
- it should work well in different presentation styles
License:
- The creator must allow the Lumiera Project Team to edit and distribute the work under a license of their choice.
- used fonts must be copyleft
- the Lumiera Project may trademark the Logo by itself.
- the proposed logo must not collide with existing trademarked logos
Hints
Need inspiration?
"The name Lumiera is a nod to history and has a soft sound. This points to a traditional and light-handed approach to typography. On the other hand, it shall be a modern, cutting-edge application that is much about precision and performance." (by Thorsten Wilms)
Submissions
What to submit:
- the logo standard version as non gradient vector graphic (mandatory)
- augmented version (with gradients, transparencies..) as vector graphic for non standard purposes (optional)
- rendering examples as PNG with different sizes and backgrounds (optional)
- ideas and sketches
- constructive comments
Note:
- any submission is given to the community thus it may be subject to discussion and refinement
- rough drafts can be submitted: they will be discussed by the community. To enter the voting they will need to be turned into vector graphic source. The community could help on that.
How to submit:
This is the official page for the contest. It' hosted at pipapo.org. To enter your submission edit this wiki as follow:
- Name your image file after you and your logo (e.g. raffa_cross), so to have an easily recognizable filename.
Upload it on lumiera.org server using our cheerful uploader. Please do not attach image files to this page: it would use too much bandwidth.
- Create a new subpage for the logo, to collect all images and discussion. Enter the main image name (e.g. raffa_cross) here:
Edit this main wiki page inserting a thumbnail of your logo at the top of the Entries list. Remember to use the external link to lumiera.org. Use this template:
|| [[ImageLink(http://lumiera.org/logo_archive/raffa_cross.png,http://www.pipapo.org/pipawiki/Lumiera/Logos/raffa_cross,width=250)]] || '''by raffa''' ||
- To comment any logo, click on the thumbnail and edit the logo page. Please add your signature (e.g. --raffa)
Note: This wiki is protected with a drastic spam filter. If your filenames or your web address are blocked by it, please send a mail to the Lumiera Mailing List <lumiera AT mail DOT lumiera DOT org> and we'll fix it.
